If you’re going through a season of tribulation, this letter will change your life.
One thing is certain:
Your trials will only increase in frequency and intensity if you don’t understand God’s character and learn how to find your identity in Him.
Especially if you’re a young believer.
This might sound pessimistic, but I’d argue it’s realistic.
Speaking from my own experience and that of other believers, knowing your identity in Christ is the single most important foundation of your spiritual life. Without this, very little spiritual growth can take place.
During the first period after getting to know Christ, I underwent an incredibly challenging and soul-forging period.
I was deep in debt, lost all my closest friends and my heart was shattered in a million pieces.
I’ve gotten to know ‘the desert’ people talk so often about very intimately.
It was truly rock bottom.
Starkly different than the blessed and peaceful life I was sold, but looking back, it was the most transformative period in my life.
God really broke me down to my core, so he can build me back up way stronger than before. And I’m glad he did.
Can you guess where most of my suffering came from?
Unmet expectations.
Not knowing God’s character and my identity in Him.
‘Why is knowing your identity in God so important’ you ask?
Because from identity flows everything: your thoughts, decisions, habits, peace, purpose, and power.
And those things dictate the quality of your life and spiritual walk.
This letter will be dense. So take out your notebook.
By the end, you’ll be equipped to:
- Understand what ‘identity’ truly means and how it can be transformed.
- Know God’s character and understand His triune nature.
- Know who you are NOT. So you can finally let go of the false self.
- Learn who god says you are and how He sees you to build your identity on a solid, unwavering foundation.
- Know the authority that God has bestowed upon you and how to use it.
- Learn how to build and maintain a real relationship with Him.
No more confusion.
No more insecurity.
No more low self-worth.
No more emotional turmoil.
And these are not empty promises, but they will require reflection, repetition, and commitment.
I urge you to meditate on these chapters as many times as you need to soak in all the information and take action on them to actually realize lasting change.
It is by action that you change, not by mere intention.
So use the tools provided and take this seriously, it’s important… nay, crucial.
As my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, I have to be more stern with you.
Fix your posture, grab a pen and paper and take down notes. Also do your research and highlight your bible as needed.
Allow this letter become a living conversation between you and God, and once again, for the love of our Lord Jesus Himself, take this seriously!

I highly recommend reading this letter about whether God is real first.
It’s a factual and data-driven analysis of:
- Whether Jesus Christ really existed.
- The extent of His influence on history.
- The data on the daily life benefits of believers.
- And my testimony & personal experience with Christ.
With a few stories from my church sprinkled throughout, that may or may not raise the hair on the back of your neck.
But to save you time:
- Yes, God is real.
- Yes, Jesus is god.
- Yes, He will return.
- Yes, He will judge all.
Don’t believe me? Then I challenge you:
Ask God to reveal himself to you.
But there’s a caveat… you have to ask sincerely.
For God is not to be mocked.
He’s not a toy or an idea or your conceptualization of a higher being.
He is the Living God.
The Creator of Heaven and Earth,
the Alpha and the Omega,
the King of kings and Lord of lords.
He is holy, righteous, just and utterly sovereign.
And yet… He is also compassionate, loving, gracious, and abundantly merciful.
Beyond anything our human minds could ever comprehend.
He sent His only Son so we could have a relationship with Him again.
Not religion, but relationship. And ultimately, reunion.
For those of you who have children, look at your son or daughter.
- Don’t you think they’re beautiful?
- Isn’t your love for them unexplainable?
- Wouldn’t you DIE for them in a heartbeat?
In that same exact way, that’s how god sees you with perfect, unfailing love.
You are his beloved child!
And He longs for a relationship with you.
So if you’re sincere about knowing Jesus, this is his promise to you.
And god never breaks his word. Ever.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 (ESV)
So if you’re on the fence about whether God is real, please I urge you, simply ask Him to reveal himself with all your heart. That’s all He asks.

I know I’m pulling a Jordan Peterson here, but it’s crucial to have a general grasp on what one means with “identity”, before trying to reshape it and transform it.
Once again: this is the most essential thing to understand as a young believer.
This is your foundation we’re building here and your identity is the root.
And if you don’t understand the foundation you’re building on, you’ll always be unsure about who you are, making you vulnerable to every lie the world and the enemy throws at you.
It’s the first step towards a fruitful spiritual life.
This is why transformation in Christ starts within. You don’t just get new habits, you get a new heart and a new name.
No clarity here means no clarity anywhere else.
